Pain – Research suggests that CBD oil can be an effective alternative for pain management. Researchers believe that CBD interacts with a core component of the endocannabinoid receptors in your brain and immune system. Receptors are tiny proteins attached to your cells that receive chemical signals from different stimuli and help your cells respond. This response can create pain relieving effects without the negative side effects associated with other pain management options, such as opioids.

Neuropathy is a term used to describe a range of health problems involving damage to the peripheral nerves, as well as the symptoms of those issues. Neuropathic pain can be resistant to pharmaceutical therapies. However, even very low doses of CBD have shown to effectively reduce symptoms. The inflammation-reducing characteristics of CBD serve to eliminate excessive immune-related oxidative stress. This allows the body to better heal itself, leading significant symptom reduction. CBD can serve as a safe alternative, or an effective addition to a pain management regimen. Recent studies suggest that CBD can relieve pain and also in conjunction with other pain relievers can maximize pain relief.

Arthritis pain is the swelling and tenderness of one or more of your pet’s joints. This is caused by a breakdown of the cartridge between the joints. The main symptoms of arthritis are joint pain and stiffness. Unfortunately, these symptoms can increase when your pet ages. Arthritis can cause your dog pain, effects their temperament, and decrease their activity levels. A recent study showed that CBD can help dogs who are suffering with arthritis by reducing the body’s inflammatory response. The study demonstrated the dogs who received CBD experienced a decrease in pain and an increase in activity levels.

Autoimmune disease is a variety of autoimmune diseases that can affect pets, such as lupus, irritable bowel disease (IBD), Cushing’s, Bullous Pemphigoid, Pemphigus complex, and several others. These diseases can be caused by a number of things, such as genetics, exposure to certain types of UV light, or even ticks. Autoimmune diseases cause your pet to experience a variety of distressing symptoms, such as increased thirst or urination, alopecia, ulcers on face or feet, fever, anemia, thyroid issues, swollen lymph nodes, weakness, weight loss, excessive bleeding, and discoloration of the nose, skin, or eyes, among others.

CBD acts as a regulator to bring the body back to homeostasis, providing a boost to the immune system. Studies have shown that CBD regulates many complex pathways of the immune system, triggering endocannabinoid receptors that can suppress the immune response. CBD also slows down T-cell production and suppresses immune system memory, reducing the likelihood of future autoimmune attacks. It has also been found to increase the expression of genes that deal with oxidative stress, which is believed to reduce cell damage from autoimmune attacks.

Cancer – Research suggests that the use of CBD can reduce cancer pain and symptoms, as well as reducing pain and discomfort related to cancer treatments. Studies have shown that CBD helps with pain, vomiting, depression, insomnia, and lack of appetite. At this point, there are no studies that show that CBD can cure cancer, however there are some promising animal studies that show it does relieve pain and makes their life more comfortable.

Control seizures – There are several causes of seizures in dogs. Epilepsy, or bursts of uncontrolled electricity in your dog’s brain could be the culprit. Other underlying conditions that contribute to seizures might include heart disease or kidney failure, electrolyte problems, flea and tick products, herbicides and pesticides, vaccines, and head injury. Sometimes, seizures are over rapidly, and other times they can last for several minutes. CBD is an effective way to diminish seizures because it acts on the endocannabinoid receptors present in the brain and nervous system. Research shows that regulating the endocannabinoid system in the brain can reduce the frequency and severity of seizures. The benefits of using CBD to treat seizures are so well known, that the FDA has recently approved the drug Epidiolex, which contains CBD, to treat seizures in humans.

Stress – Just like humans, animals can experience different kinds of stress: physical stress, which is due to fatigue or injury; physiological stress, which is due to hunger, thirst or temperature control; and behavioral stress, which is caused by their environment, unfamiliar people or surroundings. Our pets are so in tune with our emotions that in some cases, animals can experience stress if their owner is experiencing stress or anxiety. CBD is helpful for relieving stress because it interacts with the animal’s endocannabinoid system ECS to reduce the body’s stress response.

Anxiety – Animals can experience anxiety for a variety of reasons. Some signs of anxiety in your pet include pacing, panting, whimpering, trembling, aggression, urinating or defecating on the floor despite being house trained, nervous licking of the lips, and loss of appetite. CBD oil works by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system to calm anxiety. When the body releases endocannabinoid chemicals they connect with the receptors and that stimulates the body’s natural ability to create serotonin, a mood stabilizing chemical in the brain.

Separation Anxiety is an emotional condition in 20-40% of pets. Pets experience when they are not with their favorite person. Experts suggest that separation anxiety occurs due to the strong bond that pets have with their owners. Separation from their special person might cause depression or panic in an animal. In some circumstances, animals even become destructive when separated from their special person. Some signs of separation anxiety include pacing, panting, shaking, urinating and defecating, whining, and antisocial behavior.

It has been demonstrated that CBD can help to manage the symptoms associated with separation anxiety by improving your pet’s emotional state. CBD interacts with your pet’s endocannabinoid system and increases levels of serotonin in the brain, creating a calming effect. This helps your pet to better cope with separation from their special person.

Allergies – Allergy symptoms cause animals to suffer from swelling and soreness on the skin, creating pain and discomfort. Due to inflammation associated with allergies, dilated blood vessels and increased cytokines can stimulate itchiness. CBD has natural anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe this pain and discomfort. This is because CBD works with the animal’s immune system to calm the symptoms of the allergies, providing relief.
Hotspots – Hotspots are patches of skin that have been infected by a various number of bacteria. These often occur in the hot months of the summer but are not limited to this time of year. CBD has anti-inflammatory properties that help to relieve these spots. Proactively, many pet owners use CBD proactively to keep the skin healthy.

Inflammation The primary signs of inflammation are heat, pain, redness, swelling, and loss of function. Inflammation can be caused by a variety of factors, including stress, diet, environment, and disease. CBD can be effective in managing inflammation because it is believed that CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, creating an anti-inflammatory response. CBD functions to decrease inflammatory cytokines, which are responsible for these distressing symptoms. The reduction of inflammation can improve the pain and swelling associated with arthritis and other inflammatory conditions such as canine distemper, rabies, cryptococcosis, coccidioidomycosis, toxoplasmosis, neosporosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis, granulomatous meningoencephalomyelitis, and pug dog encephalitis. Reducing inflammation is critical to minimizing the pain associated with these kinds of conditions.
